Surya accomodates up to four couples in complete comfort. The elegant salon includes a wet bar, separate formal dining area, a social center with large settee and a home theater with a 50-inch plasma TV. There are four separate dining areas: the pilothouse, main salon, aftdeck, and flybridge for unsurpassed dining versatility. A fully-equipped galley is located at the pilothouse level and allows everyone to enjoy the ride together.

Captain Stephen Smyth

Stephen has been around boats since he was a teenager in South Africa. This started off in Durban with his father racing 30ft keel boats offshore.
After school he got involved in the restaurant business in SA and London. Taking a break he joined his father on a large charter yacht working in the Mediterranean. Eventually he went back to South Africa and opened up 3 of his own restaurants in Cape Town.

In the year 2000 Stephen and his wife Janice decided to relocate to the Caribbean and work in the yachting industry full time. Starting as a deckhand and working his way up to a Master 200ton Captain, he has chartered boats in the Mediterranean, Bahamas, Caribbean and East coast USA.

A qualified diver, Stephen thoroughly enjoys exploring the life below the beautiful Caribbean waters. He is often found delivering fresh Lobster, Grouper or Snapper for Janice to prepare.

Chef Janice Smyth

Janice is a South African from Cape Town. Her love of traveling and inquisitive nature eventually brought her to the boating world. Her previous work history of pre-school teaching, restaurant owner and company management have helped to prove her professionalism in the luxury world of boating. Her attention to detail will leave nothing to be desired.

Janice is also a qualified diver, and enjoys exploring the beautiful Caribbean waters with Stephen.

Janice is a self-taught chef, with an easy going nature. She can prepare menus that are diverse and can suite all dietary needs. She has subsequently done cooking courses with Culinary Fusion and loves to entertain. Janice prefers to cook very fresh healthy food including the freshest seafood and with Captain Stephen’s help, endeavor to produce delicious meals such as fresh Lobster or Grouper on the BBQ. From formal silver service dining to the informal family-style dinner, her creations are certain to entertain the most discerning palette.

Janice strives to make sure your culinary experience is a taste sensation.

A vibrant and professional couple from South Africa, Stephen and Janice have worked together for the past eleven years in the Charter Industry. Their experiences as crew have taken them as far a field as the Pacific Oceans to the Caribbean. Their welcoming personalities will relax you the moment you step aboard M/Y Surya for the luxury vacation of your dreams.
